Our weekly blogs will give you more information about what your child is doing in school. This will mean that you can ask meaningful questions to find out about their learning.

 

 

Week commencing 10/07/2017

The children will be working on the water cycle in their topic and looking at the final lesson on living things, with some work on The Tudors.

Week commencing 03/07/2017

The children will carry on working on the Tudors and will be looking at endangered species in Science.  They will think about their own beliefs and compare them to Sikhism.

 

Week commencing 26/06/2017

This week, children will continue their work on the Tudors, practising for sports day and carrying on with their classification work in science.

Week commencing 19/06/2017

The children will continue to work on the Tudors and also on classification in science.  In PSHE they will be thinking and talking about safe secrets.  A film crew are coming in to film some of the children for a PSHE video.  The children will also be preparing for sports day.

Week commencing 12/06/2017

The children will carry on with their work on the lives of the Tudors.  They will be thinking about how to classify living things in science and in PE they will be preparing for sports day.  In PSHE they will be thinking about the importance of trust.

Week commencing 6/06/2017

Year 3 and 4 children will be starting their work on the Tudors.  They will be looking at the life of Henry VIII in particular and discovering what it was like to live in Tudor times.  They will also be looking at animals and living things, classifying animals and looking at what keeps us alive.  They will be preparing for sports day.  The children will be looking at changes in SEAL and some children will be attending an overnight stay at Kingswood.

Week commencing 15/05/2017

As part of 'Money Week' children will be looking at money in maths.  They will continue their work on mountains and pracising for sports day.  Some classes will begin making their boats in DT.

Week commencing 08/05/2017

This week the children will continue their work on mountains and rivers.  They will continue their circuit training, computing and ocarinas.  In DT they will be creating their boats. 

Week commencing 02/05/2017

The children are going on a visit to The Living Land day at Kent Showground on Thursday.  Written work will focus on what they have seen on the visit.

 

Week commencing 24/04/2017

The children will be carrying on with their work on rivers and mountains.  They will look at relationships in SEAL and constructive views ins PSHE.  In PE, the children will be doing circuit training and in computing they will be looking at programming and alogrithms.  They will be starting boat designs in DT.

Week commencing 27/03/2017

The children in Years 3 and 4 will be rehearsing and performing The Peace Child this week.

 

Week commencing 20/03/2017

Year 3 and 4 children will be mainly focusing on their production, including painting scenery, making props and singing songs.

Week commencing 13/03/2017

The children will be focusing on developing their performances for the production.  Children will be rehearsing acting, singing, instrumental work and dance.  Some children will be singing in the Central Theatre.  The children will also be taking part in the Environmental walk on Tuesday afternoon.

Week commencing 06/03/2017

The children will continue to rehearse for their performance of Peace Child at the end of term.  Rehearsals are also taking place during lunch time.  They will be developing their own gymnastic sequences in PE which will include rolls, jumps, balances and travelling.  They will use their science knowledge to continue to plan and develop their Design Technology project.  They will be involved in The Rights Respecting Schools visit.

Week commencing 27/02/2017

The children will be starting their DT designs that include an electrical circuit.  They will be continuing their rehearsals for the Peace Child production.  The children will be developing their gymnastics through sequence work.  They will also be thinking about "it's good to be me".

 

Week commencing 21/02/2017

Children will be starting their work on drama and performance including rehearsing the songs for the production.  They will start work on electricity and on creating a gym sequence.  Some children will be doing multi-skills activities at The Howard School.

 

Week commencing 06/02/2017

This week years 3 and 4 will be taking part in a multi-cultural week.  Each class will be looking at one country and all their work from English to art will be based on the stories and culture from that country.  Class 3/4K will be looking at Fiji; class 3/4M will be looking at Scotland and class 3/4F will be looking at Finland.  These are all countries represented by children in our phase.  The children will also continue to learn songs from other cultures and finish their Latin dance routine.

 

Week commencing 30/01/2017

This week, year 3 and 4 will be getting ready to make their Tapas dish (based on Pan Tomaca) on Thursday.  Parents are invited to come and taste their child's food if they wish to do so.  In PE, the children will be completing the final part of their dance lessons with the Latin routine.  They will continue to research and write about Spain.

 

Week commencing 23/01/2017

The children will be writing their recipes for their Pan Tomaca which they have designed as part of their technology lessons.  They will bring a letter home explaining what is happening and requesting an ingredient from home to help make their final tapas dish.  The children will continue with their topic work on Spain and will be polishing their Latin dance routines.  They will be continuing to look at living healthily and what they need to do to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

 

Week commencing 16/01/2017

The children will be continuing their work on Spain - using research to produce independent projects on a region of Spain.  They will also be continuing to learn some basic Spanish and they will also start their tapas technology work that they will create in week 5.  In PE the children will continue to develop their aerobic abilities through a Latin dance and hip hop workout.  In science and PSHE they will continue to look at healthy living.

Week commencing 09/01/2017

This week the children will be starting their independent research projects on a region of Spain.  They will be researching life, culture, history and language from a region of Spain that they will represent in their topic work.  In PE, the children will begin dance by looking at traditional Spanish dances and Spanish influenced dances.  Music will start again this week.  The children will continue to look at being healthy.

Week commencing 03/01/2017

This week, the children will be starting their Food Glorious Food top which has a geographical study of life, language and culture of Spain.  They will do some initial research about Spain in general and then will do some atlas work on Europe.  They will be looking at the early work of Pablo Picasso and starting to look at healthy living - beginning with teeth.

Week commencing 12/12/2016

Children in years 3 and 4 will be including Christmas activities in their maths and English lessons.  Children will be looking at the life of Moses and the link between Judaism and the history of Egypt.  They will take part in a carol service on Friday, singing 9 carols.

Week commencing 5/12/2016

Children in years 3 and 4 will be carrying out some maths work on shape and coordinate.  They will be looking at the Jewish festival of Hanukkah, which this year starts on 24th December.  They will also be linking the story of Moses to the work that they have done on Egypt.  Children will be watching the Year 2 Christmas show, next week they are going to the pantomime at Mid Kent College and some children will be singing carols to the OAPs at the garrison.  Some children will also be taking part in a TriGolf event.

Week commencing 28/11/2016

Year 3 and year 4 will be finishing their creations for the Christmas Fayre. they will also be creating their masks. they will be coming to the end of their topic on the Egyptians. In PSHE they will continue to think about friendships and how getting on and falling out is all art of life. In MFL they will be looking at French stories. 

Week commencing 21/11/2016

Years 3 and 4 will be starting their artwork for the Christmas fair, working with clay to create a table light.  They will also be doing some work linked with anti-bullying as well as carrying on with their work in PE, music and French.

Week commencing 14/11/2016

This week, Years 3 and 4 will be doing some work based on the visit by the NSPCC and will also be doing some work on anti-bullying.  The children will be starting their work on levers in DT and looking at how to make a shaduf.  They will continue with their tag rugby and music work.

Week commencing 07/11/2016

Children in years 3 and 4 are going on a school trip to The Museum of Kent Life on Tuesday to experience life in Ancient Egypt.  They will be looking at : the afterlife, building a pyramid, rope making, dressing like an Egyptian, entertainment for the Pharoah and magical medicine.  The first class assembly (3/4F) will take place on Wednesday 9th november and the other classes are the following two weeks (3/4M on 16th November and 3/4K on 23rd November)  You are very welcome to come and watch these assemblies at 0900 and then join your children in class afterwards for some refreshments and a quick look at some of their work.

Week commencing 02/11/2016

Years 3 and 4 have been looking at Rights Respecting Schools article 14 - the right to freedom of thought and religion.  They have also been looking at the importance of masks in Ancient Egypt and using them as a stimulus for their own creations.  They have also been looking at the family in French.  They have continued with their rugby and music.

 

Week commencing 17/10/2016

This week, children in Yeasr 3 and 4 will be doing some creative work based on the discovery of an Egyptian tomb in written work and art work.  The children will be doing some work on data handling and shape and they will also be looking at Ma Famille in modern foreign languages.  They will start to play mini tag games in PE.

Week commencing 10/10/2016

Children will be continuing their work on Egypt helped by the visit from Jeremy from the Guildhall Museum.  They will also be continuing their work on Forces in science.  In RE they will be looking at important Jewish festivals and in PE they will be developing their teamwork skills through tag rugby.  Ocarina lessons and Reading for Pleasure will also take place this week.

Week commencing 03/10/2016

On Monday, Jeremy from the Guildhall Museum in Rochester will be visiting to talk to the children about Ancient Egypt. 

The children will have the opportunity to look at real and replica artefacts as well as learning about mummification.  In science they will continue their work on forces and friction.  In science, they will continue their work on forces and friction.  In modern foreign languages, the children will continue to learn more French numbers.  In PE the children will begin to play mini tag rugby matches.

 

 

Week commencing 12/09/2016

The children will be starting RWI, maths and their topic work next week.  They will be creating a piece of induction based writing based on Dream Jars from the BFG as it is Roald Dahl day on Tuesday.  They will be looking at Ancient Egypt as part of Ancient Civilisations.  They will also be looking at forces in science.  They will create colour wheels in art and continue tag rugby in PE.  Some children will begin Mindfulness classes.  They will be continuing their induction work.

Week commencing 19/09/2016

The timetable will start in full this week with the children beginning topic work on the Egyptians and science work on forces.  They will be looking at "Introductions" in modern foreign languages and will continue their rugby skills work in class.  Ocarinas in music starts this week as will after school Tag Rugby on Thursday.
